Geocache Description:

Please check the Garibaldi Park webpage for updates on trail conditions.

Welcome to the Diamond Head series, these caches are here to show you some amazing parts this beautiful and massive park, they will also test your mental and physical fortitude.

Please know before you go, do not wear city footwear, this includes sandals, crocks, flip flops, and running shoes, ankle support is paramount when traversing these trails! I cannot stress this enough. Please wear proper hiking boots.

Garibaldi Provincial park covers 194,650 hectares, this series covers only a very small portion of that. A fair majority is in the alpine or above the tree line so on sunny days, sun burn can easily occur.

These caches consist of seven bison tubes and one pelican container, eight in total. All of these caches are accessible from the trail, you will not, and should not walk on any of the alpine plants to access them, Garibaldi Park takes this very seriously, the preservation of alpine vegetation is vitally important for the future of this park's environment.

The majority of these caches demand the willingness to go into very remote territory, please notify someone in civilization when a where you are going, and when you will get back. It is also preferable that you notify a park ranger that you are heading into the more desolate regions of the park.

The Elfin Lakes campground has awesomely been re-located from the deep gully to the west and now over looks the tall mountains to the east, this is a tremendous improvement. The old campsite is now a popular corridor for bears, this is one of the main reasons why it was moved. There are bear caches at the the new campground, please use them.

You can camp at Elfin lakes and make it a day hike to Mamquam Lake, it is advisable to leave early for Mamquam because it is another 11 kilometres one way, you need to make sure you have enough day light to get back.
I hid these caches to showcase some of the beautiful and unique parts of this park, I have been here many times, and I want others to also bask in the humbling presence of this stunning mountain ecosystem.

The particular cache is located up a creek that Kelly899 and I call, Zee Creek. When you approach the cache site, you will know why we called it this. Its funny why we both used the American version, as opposed to "Zed" creek, because we're both Canadian, but the name stuck. Please be careful when climbing up to it, no rock climbing (involving ropes) is required, but judgement calls are.

Have fun, and be safe.
