This cache has been archived.

Greatland Reviewer: Hello:

This cache page has been archived due to the lack of response to one or more prior Reviewer Note(s) about issue(s) with the cache. If the owner would like to have the cache unarchived, please contact me through my profile as soon as possible before another cache gets placed nearby.

Please note that unarchiving a cache page requires it to go through the same review process as a newly proposed cache, using the cache placement guidelines currently in effect.

Geocache Description:

This series will bring you to some stunning architectures in Hong Kong. Information is provided for cacher’s general understanding only. All caches are not intended to act as promotion to the architectural associations.

Three out of four former military buildings are listed as Grade 1 Historic Buildings and are part of the Former explosives Magazine Compound. The compound underwent modern aesthetic transformation and became a dynamic complex. The former Explosives Magazine Compound was built by the British Army in the mid-19th century to prepare and store explosives. In the site, gunpowder was processed, packaged, stored and issued to defensive locations throughout Hong Kong. In the beginning of the 20th century, the site was expanded and taken over by the Navy. By the middle of the 20th century, the British Government adopted it as storage, serving as a depot until 1970s. After the 1980s, the site was not in use until it was granted to the Center by the HKSAR Government for adaptive reuse.

Similar to this magazine, the first A.S. cache is a rebirth version of GC3JA80. Feel free to walk around and engage yourself to the dialogue between heritage and modern minimalism.

Fees applied on Gallery and Theatre (depends on the ongoing exhibition and events), free admission to Roof Garden and the Walkaway along the Heritage Compound.

Tuesday – Friday: 11am – 6pm

Public Holidays and Weekends: 10am - 6pm

Last Thursday of the month: 11am – 8pm.

There may be special opening hours depend on the exhibition, opening schedule mentioned above are the ordinary ones, please check their website for updates.

Please return the cache in exact way as you found it and do not attempt to "munzee-lize" any of my caches . Thank you.
