Geocache Description:

. Look across the path at GZ and very close by is evidence of the power of nature: a pine tree with a splintered, twisted top and no canopy. During the great storm of February 2014 a localised whirlwind twisted and ripped the top off this large tree, carried it 15 metres and dropped it, shattered trunk downwards, into the farmer's field where it stuck, looking like some kind of huge Christmas tree.

One of 10 caches around this lovely nature reserve. Mere Sands Wood's visitor centre is open 9.30am to 4.30pm Tuesday - Sunday, closed Mondays (open Bank Holidays). Parking is £2 a day; an annual pass is £24. Motorised wheelchairs are available for loan: no charge, but a donation is appreciated. N.B. The path to this cache, unlike the majority at MSW, is not officially deemed suitable for wheelchairs as it's a bit bumpy - but others have been round in wheelchairs without too much trouble, especially on a dry day. Motorised wheelchairs should be fine on this section at any time of year. Well, maybe not in snow & ice! .
