Geocache Description:

We have yet another in the series.  This one will bring you to Ransom Park in Tioga Center.  The cache is located on the edge of the park, no need to go anywhere near the railroad tracks.  Bring a lunch and enjoy the new gazebo and watch the passing trains.  The kids can play on the new equipment that was installed after the last set was damaged beyond repair by the floods.

Over the tracks and across the field lies the mighty Susquehanna River.  In 2006 this area was covered with water.  In 2011 it was innundated.  AS you look at the nearby houses you can see that many have been rebuilt or replaced and have been elevated to lift them out of the flood zone.  The gravel parking area of the park was under more than 5 feet of water, but the residents perservered and rebuilt thereby keeping the community "afloat".

Tioga Center is also the home of the Mighty Tioga Central Tigers.  The school has enough elevation that it has stood high above the waters and provides a quality education for this part of the county.

Cache was placed in the early spring so undergrowth and thorns may naturally occur as the growing season progresses.
