Geocache Description:

The Williamson Valley Road Series is a Friends of Morgan Ranch Nature Park history project. Even numbered caches are on the E side of the Rd; odd on the W for 44 mi. WE RECOMMEND THAT YOU WORK 1 SIDE OF THE ROAD AT A TIME. Please pick up trash so the neighborhood trash-pickers are not drawn to the location.

PLEASE do not park on Williamson Valley Rd. Turn onto Burnt Ranch Rd, and you will see a really good parking spot on the left. Burnt Ranch Road commemorates the site of an 1865 Yavapai Indian attack at the Miller Ranch. John Jacob Miller and Ed Shepard were ranching for Judge Edmund Wells when the attack began. The ranchers persevered and the Indians finally left after Miller killed two of them. After the men moved the remaining cattle to Prescott, the Indians burned the cabin. The restored cabin is shown in a 1930 photograph. Tom Mix, a famous cowboy actor, reenacted the raid in the 1928 movie Hello Cheyenne, filmed in Prescott.
