Geocache Description:

This multi-stage cache will take you to two great parks in south-central Indiana. One is a state nature preserve, and another is a small park in Columbus. There is no actual container at stage one; you are looking for the coordinates to reach stage two printed somewhere.

I created this cache to commemorate the completion of my Eagle Scout service project, and the cache connects to another Scout's Eagle project, too.  The first stage of this cache is a marker with coordinates posted on it.  This marker is located in the Trevlac Bluffs Nature Preserve, a beautiful area near Bloomington, IN that is maintained by an organization called the Sycamore Land Trust.  For my Eagle project, I led an effort to clean an area of the preserve that had previously been used as a local dump.  Now, that area is clean, and it fits right in with the rest of the woods.  If you follow the trails for a little while after you find stage one, you can see some beautiful parts of nature.  The second stage is located in a park in Columbus, IN, because containers can't actually be hidden in the nature preserve.  You will be looking for a small plastic container.  Stealth here is a must during pleasant weather, as muggles will abound.  A fellow Scout from my troop did some conservation work at this location for his Eagle project, giving some significance to this spot.

There is no parking lot near stage one, but at the 90-degree bend of state road 45, you can park one or two vehicles on the side of the road on the south side of the bend.  You will be able to see the entrance to the nature preserve from there.  A parking lot is near the Columbus park.

To reiterate, there is a considerable distance between the two stages of the cache, so just be aware that you will either have to drive some distance or wait until another day when you're caching in Columbus to hit stage two.  I hope you enjoy the search!

Note: It has come to my attention that the coordinates for stage two are a bit off. For more accurate coordinates, subtract .011' from the latitude coordinate and add .005' to the longitude coordinate that you find.
