Geocache Description:

The Williamson Valley Road Series is a Friends of Morgan Ranch Nature Park history project. Even numbered caches are on the E side of the Rd; odd on the W for 44 mi. WE RECOMMEND THAT YOU WORK 1 SIDE OF THE ROAD AT A TIME. Please pick up trash so the neighborhood trash-pickers are not drawn to the location.

HINSHAW FAMILY & JACK FLETCHER When Jack Fletcher wanted to take a vacation in 1956, he asked Rex Hinshaw, a Phoenix veterinarian, to fill in at the Prescott Animal Hospital. Fletcher took Hinshaw to the top of a hill (Whispering Canyon) and pointed north to Flagstaff, east to Albuquerque, south to Phoenix, and west to Kingman. He then said, “There’s your territory.” Hinshaw later bought land a few miles north of that hill, where his son Steve now lives. Rex, not to be confused with his better-looking twin brother Ray (a joke between them), is known for his skill with racehorses. He worked on a documentary about cowboys, which was never completed. Rex spent a great deal of time on the set at the Matli Ranch with entertainer and producer Slim Pickens. Hinshaw liked to goof around on his farm in a 1915 Model T Ford that had a 1920 Oklahoma license plate. Arcadia Publication's Williamson Valley Road
