Geocache Description:

An opportunity for  CITO!

Presque Isle is holding its 58th annual cleanup on Saturday April 19. Pickup gloves and bags at the Rotary Pavilion (see co ordintates above). Dress for the weather. We will then meet at Perry Monument as we have for many years and spread out from there. Try and be at the Monument between 9am-9:30am. Cleanup is until 11 or so followed by a free lunch back at the Rotary Pavilion.  It takes 10-15 minutes to get to the Pavilion from the head of the park. It takes about 15 minutes to get to Perry Monument from the head of the park.

58th Presque Isle State Park Spring Clean-up Helpful Hints 1- The Rotary Pavilion is located across the road from the Cookhouse Pavilion. A map of Presque Isle can be found at www.visitPAparks.com 2- Please be aware that there are deer ticks that may carry Lyme disease on Presque Isle. Take precautions to reduce your exposure. Avoid picking up trash in brushy or wooded areas. Wear long pants and tuck your pants into your socks (ticks have a harder time trying to find a way in) Check for ticks periodically during your time outdoors and check again once you get home. Go to Center of Disease Control for more info. http://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/dvbid/lyme/index.htm 3- When finished please place bags along side of the road for pick-up by our maintenance. 4- DO NOT pick up needles or syringes or anything that looks hazardous to you. Call the Ranger Station at 833-1495 with a location and we will pick it up. 5- Cigarettes are litter too! Please be prepared to pick up lots of small items. Small plastic bits of trash have an impact on the water. Please pick up all little stuff too! 6- OPEN bathroom locations include: Perry Monument, Ranger Station, TREC, and Rotary. REDUCE< REUSE< RECYCLE 1- PLEASE bring your own reusable drinking containers in order to enjoy pink lemonade provided by Wendys or hot coffee provided by Krispy Kreme. 2- Please do not throw cloth gloves away! You may keep them or return your cloth gloves to the Rotary Pavilion. We will be donating them as rags to the Erie City Mission who will send out the rags to get recycled into something else. 3- Fill up garbage bags as packed full as you can in order to reduce the amount of bags being used. Return unused bags to the Rotary Pavilion. 4- PLEASE SEPARATE ANY DUCK DECOYS FOUND and return to Rotary pavilion! We will be recycling those also! Thank-you to all of the volunteers who are helping to keep Presque Isle State Park clean!
