Upton Stroll Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

Springerdale: Went to check on this yesterday and unfortunately it's definitely gone again. Looks like the location has been well and truly muggled so with regret I am archiving. Thanks to everyone who found it - I enjoyed reading all the logs.

Geocache Description:

A walk through Upton Country Park is enjoyable at any time of year although it can get muddy! The cache is not in the Park but is close by. The Park has a network of hard-surfaced wheelchair friendly footpaths. There are accessible toilets in the car park.

I believe that it's wheelchair accessible up to a few metres of the cache but any feedback would be appreciated. There is a gate which you may need a radar key for if you can't use the smaller gate.

The published coordinates are for the car park which is free. If you don’t want to drive there are cyclepaths including the Castleman Trailway from Broadstone and the route from Poole along the Holes Bay. Dogs are allowed but will need to be kept on leads in the park.

Upton House, is a Georgian Grade II listed building surrounded by Poole's only Country Park. It was built between 1816 and 1818 and is located on the edge of Upton set on a knoll 45 ft above sea level. From the grounds there are views of Poole Harbour. It has been suggested that Upton House was the inspiration for Wyndaway House in Thomas Hardy's novel "The Hand of Ethelberta". The house was given to Poole Council in 1957.

The walk itself is about 2km including getting back to the start but it’s worth allowing extra time in case you distracted by the play equipment and formal gardens. There are more than 100 acres of woodland, parkland and shoreline to explore. It’s a great place for birdwatching although the hide which used to be there burnt down some time ago.

You are looking for “Tupperware” type container. When placed it contained a log book, pencil and swaps. Please trade fairly. Please replace it carefully so that it can’t be seen from the path.
