Geocache Description:

This cache is on the scenic ‘boonie stomp’ to San Carlos Falls.  When you reach this location look to the north and you will see in the distance to a ridge and valley a nice waterfall … and wonder – how do I get there? (That is a question I hope to answer in the future.)  Another beautiful location that should be explored! It isn’t where this trail leads though. At this vantage point you are more than halfway to San Carlos Falls. Just keep following this well beaten trail. This is a great spot for a water break and to use your camera.  As you look around you will see deep green foliage leading into valleys. These all have rivers running through and you will notice to the east the ‘San Carlos’ river valley. This cache is located off the access road on Nimitz Hill.  The waypoint (N 13° 27.058 E 144° 43.359) is marked at a pump station about halfway to the Korean monument and 25 Miracles. Turn right at this waypoint and follow this road to the end. At the end you will see a path. The path leads directly to the tunne.

If you have an off road vehicle it will cut at least 15 minutes off coming and going.  This is what I would rate as a medium to difficult hike if you go all the way to the bottom of San Carlos Falls and to San Carlos Pool. If you continue to the waterfall I recommend you don’t go alone, have some teammates to accompany you.  Be sure to bring at least a quart of water.  The trail is pretty evident for the most part, but there are white and orange tags along the way.
