Geocache Description:

We are working with the SD State Dept of Game Fish and Parks to establish a series of caches in this area.

The cache is hidden along a public hiking trail; no need to cross fences, enter US property, or to enter private property. The best spot for parking is at the National Fish Hatchery parking lot. But access to the cache is only by hiking the trail. If you choose to do all 13 caches along the trail it will be almost 1.5 miles – one way.  No State Park Sticker is needed if you park at the National Fish Hatchery parking lot. If you choose to approach this cache from the White Crane Campground it will be just a short walk. A SD State Park Sticker is required to enter the Campground. There is also parking available just outside the campground, too. For this reason I have kind of taken the middle road as far as rating the terrain. Be aware that because of the population of deer in the area, it is also a favorite hang out for deer hunters during bow season.   Please dress appropriately for the season, carry bug spray and water and be wary of poison ivy.   Bring your own pen.   Have fun caching.

This cache was first made available to attendees of the 5th Annual Yankton Spring Caching Event.
