We are working with the SD State Dept of Game Fish and Parks to establish a series of caches in this area.
Using the Geocaching.com rating system the terrain was rated slightly higher because of the hike to GZ.
White Crane Campground and primitive area is ringed with walking trails. The White Crane Trail caches are all located near these primitive walking trails or near a road within the camping area. Some minimal bushwhacking is required to reach many of these. There is approximately a 1.5 mile hike to gather the entire series. Entry to park in the camp ground will require a South Dakota State Parks sticker; no sticker is required if you are parking along the east boundary of the primitive area or at the SE corner of the campground on a public parking area. Be aware that because of the population of deer in the area, it is also a favorite hang out for deer hunters during bow season. Please dress appropriately for the season, carry bug spray, and be wary of poison ivy. Bring your own pen. Have fun caching.
