Chain Fruit Cholla Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

CopperWings: I have decided to archive this cache for two reasons. Reason one is that the cactus that hosted it is no longer healthy. The second reason is that there are surveyors ribbons all over the area. Could be a subdivision coming.

Geocache Description:

Have you got a sharp eye? You will need it. Be careful when grabbing the cache, as this well-camoflaged micro resides in vegetation that truly is vicious. Tweezers are HIGHLY recommended.

Cylindropuntia fulgida

If you seek out this cache, you'll find the above cactus, a specimen of Cylindropuntia fulgida, common name chain fruit cholla, one of several species generally known as Jumping Cholla. The segments don't actually move on their own, but because their barbed spines latch on to passing animals (including people) with a hold stronger than that of the parent plant, the merest touch can cause a painful connection.
Be very careful, because this vicious vegetation harbors the cunningly camoflaged cache you are searching for. Gloves, tweezers, and a grabbing tool are recommended.
