Cedar Point Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Isle Cachers: It is very difficult to get out to this cache due to trail conditions. The trail has been flooding. It can be dangerous, esp when the water is deeper then expected and you can get sucked into the sand. We have to archive.

Geocache Description:

Cedar Point is a 364-acre amusement park located on a Lake Erie peninsula in Sandusky, Ohio. Opened in 1870, it is the second-oldest operating amusement park in the United States behind Lake Compounce.

Presque Isle, also a peninsula on Lake Erie, has its own Cedar Point. Hence the lone little Cedar Pine you will see at the cache site.

Eastern Redcedar, Juniperus virginiana

The fine-grained, soft brittle pinkish- to brownish-red heartwood is fragrant, very light and very durable, even in contact with soil. Because of its rot resistance, the wood is used for fence posts. The aromatic wood is avoided by moths, so it is in demand as lining for clothes chests and closets, often referred to as cedar closets and cedar chests.
