Old Indian Cemetery
This small cemetery sits high above the waters of the Black Warrior River. It is now part of the forest, and also on a lot in a river side subdivision. The cemetery is accessible form a public road and a short walk in the woods; I was advised to drive up the driveway and park in the stone drive of the metal building.
The grave markers here are, for the most part, unintelligible. Time has taken its toll and just a few initials are still visible. Just a few years ago a descendant had a small memorial built to honor those buried here.
The listing of cemeteries in Tuscaloosa lists two names for this cemetery, one being the Old Indian Cemetery. The other name, which is part of the memorial, shares the other name.
