It is fun finding old cemeteries and when you get there and find great history attached to them it is even more exciting! There is a sign at this cemetery stating that the second white settler in Mercer county, Mathias Zahniser, built his cabin seven-tenths of a mile from the cemetery. He is buried at Zahniser cemetery (old), where we also placed a cache today. His descendents Charles Reed Zahniser and Kate M. Zahneiser are buried here. They wrote the family history of the Zahniser family. I will share a link to that with this cache.

We enjoyed our time here and learning a little history as well. Enjoy this area and grab a cache as well.
