Join us for a Cache In Trash Out (CITO) event at the Ballona Wetlands in Playa Del Rey, CA during the 12th Annual CITO event weekend on Saturday, April 26th, 2014. Our volunteer efforts for the morning will focus on removing invasive plant species along the wetlands. Volunteers will receive hands-on experience while learning about wetland ecology and earn this year's CITO souvenir.
Saturday April 26, 2014, 9:00 am -12:00 pm
The morning will start with a brief training session and log signing and end with a raffle and the obligatory group picture behind trash bags. After, please join us at shari_in_paris' Picnic in the Park Event nearby.
Friends of Ballona Wetlands - 303 Culver Boulevard, Playa Del Rey, CA 90293
Park and meet at parking lot behind Gordon's Market. The entrance to the reserve is behind the market, in the northeast corner of the gravel parking lot. Additional free parking can be found around Del Rey Lagoon Park. Carpooling is recommended and this location is also accessible via the 115 Metro Line and Ballona Creek Bike Path.
The Friends will provide gloves, tools and a water station, but you are encouraged to bring your own garden gloves, buckets to save on plastic bags and re-usable water bottles. I will be providing bottled water, light snacks (probably granola bars), hand sanitizers/wet wipes, sun block, a mini first aid kit and waiver forms.
For those bringing a group, please state how many people you may bring in your "Will Attend" log.
All participants will be required to fill out a waiver form prior to participating. Waivers can be downloaded here: http://www.ballonafriends.org/docs/Waiver%202014.pdf. All minors must have their parents consent to participate and minors under 15 must be accompanied by an adult.
Hope to see you at my first event!
