It was hosted by a Japanese race community, and the Meguro racecourse was made in then Tokyo prefecture Ebara county Shimomeguro-mura in Meiji 40(1907) year.
At that time, people were keen on horse racing.
Racecourse of two had already been used also in Tokyo.
One is Ikegami Racecourse (Ikegami Ota-ku).
Tokyo Racing Association had operated Ikegami Racecourse.
Other one is Itabashi Racecourse Racecourse (Sakaemachi Itabashi-ku).
Tokyo Jockey Club had operates Itabashi Racecourse.
However, for people too absorbed in horse racing, the government I have to ban the sale of betting in 1908.
Meguro Racecourse has suffered a major obstacle in a year starting.
Racecourse had been stopped for period of time.
Period in which the sale of betting is prohibited, free horse racing by the government was held.
It not only racecourse was also used for purposes other than horse racing.
In Meguro racecourse , it has been held model of airplane and flight (1911), car racing (1915).
Because by April 1923, the government enacted the Horse Racing Act, by betting ticket sales became possible again in that it has been.
And many people came back to this racecourse .
At last, on April 24, 1932, "Tokyo Yushun large race (Japan Derby)" was held in Meguro Racecourse 1st.
Megurocho and Himonnya-cho merged in the same year and became Meguro-ku.
By depending on the after the Great Kanto Earthquake, migration to the suburbs of Tokyo has progressed, many people had been to live around the racecourse .
Therefore the complaints for the noise and the smell from neighboring inhabitants increased.
After all, Meguro Racecourse was closed at the end of the race April 30 of the following year.
The racecourse is moved to Fuchu, and, in the same year, Fuchu racecourse (Tokyo Racecourse ) is born.
It was borrowed from the temple land of Meguro Racecourse.
The racecourse turned into the residential land afterwards.
However, a part of the circumference road is left now.
The road which there is while drawing an arc on the right nearby on the east side of the former racecourse intersection is the trace. Cf. (Figure1)
There is the small park called "the Sakuranosato-cho corner park" in the place facing the circumference road of the racecourse.
There is the signboard which wrote of Meguro Racecourse in the park.

目黒通りに「元競馬場」という場所があります。その名のとおり、以前ここには目黒競馬場がありました。
目黒競馬場は、目黒通りの南側、現在の林試の森との間にありました。
目黒競馬場は、明治40(1907)年に日本競馬会主催で当時の東京府荏原郡下目黒村に作られました。
その当時は競馬熱が盛り上がっていて、都内にもすでに、東京競馬会による池上競馬場(大田区池上)と、東京ジョッキー倶楽部が板橋競馬場(現・板橋区栄町)がありました。
しかし、競馬熱が異常な盛り上がりを見せたことで、政府が馬券の販売を目黒競馬場ができた翌年に禁止してしまいました。
政府による、賭けの対象にならないレースなども開催されましたが、競馬場は一時期は休止まで追い込まれてしまいました。
この休止期間は、競馬場を競馬以外の多目的な広場としても使われています。飛行機の模範飛行（１９１１年）や、自動車レース（１９１５年）もありました。
大正12(1923)年4月、競馬法が制定されたことで再び馬券販売が可能になったことで、この競馬場に活気が戻ってきました。
そして、昭和7(1932)年4月24日に、第1回「東京優駿大競走(日本ダービー)」が目黒競馬場で開催されました。
同じ年に目黒町と碑文谷町が合併して目黒区となりました。関東大震災後、東京の郊外への移住が進んだことで、まわりは宅地化が進み、周囲の住民からの騒音や匂いに対しての苦情が多くなってきました。
結局、翌年の4月30日のレースを最後に閉鎖され、同じ年に、府中競馬場（現在の東京競馬場）が誕生しています。
競馬場自体は借地であったため、その後は競馬場のあった場所は宅地化されてしまいました。
しかし、現在でも外周道路の一部が残っています。
元競馬場交差点の近くから、東側に右に円弧を描きながらある道がその名残です。（Figure1参照）
この競馬場の外周道路に面した場所に、「さくらの里街かど公園」という小さな公園があります。
ここには競馬場のことを記した看板があります。
この小さな公園に、ジャッシュを設置しました。
