The function as this water supply was abolished in 1722.
The people of 14 villages applied to KantouGundai government in those days when they wanted to use the water for agriculture.
As a result, it became the Mita waterworks in 1725.
The Mita water was used for farming, flour milling, rice cleaning first.
As the water to use in water for industrial use and a beer factory after the Meiji era was used.
Those use disappears, too and will completely stop a flow in 1975.
Chayazaka tunnel was made for starting Shinchaya Street in 1930.
The tunnel was length approximately 10 meters.
The tunnel goes along the bottom of the Mita water.
This tunnel is removed for road widening in 2003, and there is not it anymore.

三田用水は1664年、飲用の上水として作られました。
その水は、玉川上水から北沢で分水し、三田村を経て白金、芝に流れていました。
1722年、この上水としての機能が廃止になりました。
当時、１４の村が農業用水に使いたいと関東郡代に願い出て、1725年に三田用水となりました。
三田用水は、農耕、製粉、精米などに使われましたが、明治以降は工業用水や、ビール工場で使う水としての利用になりました。
それらの利用も無くなり、昭和50年には流れを完全に止めることとなりました。
茶屋坂隧道は、1930年に新茶屋通りを開通させるため、三田用水の下を開削してできた10メートルほどのトンネルです。
このトンネルは2003年に道路拡幅に伴い撤去されてもうありません。
キャッシュは茶屋坂隧道の上、三田用水が流れていた付近に設置しました。
