This guy is waiting at the newly renovated trailhead for the Tippecanoe II Mitigation Area just off of Flamingo Blvd.
Tippecanoe II Mitigation Area is a 182 acre preserve that is home to 2 family groups of the Florida scrub-jay. The mitigation area was acquired to protect the Florida scrub-jay and to offset the impacts of two County projects, including the widening of Flamingo Blvd. Tippecanoe II is made up of oak scrub, scrubby flatwoods, hydric hammock, and xeric hammock. A wide variety of wildlife can be observed in these habitats, keep a lookout for gopher tortoises, oak toads, six lined race runners, screech owls and even bald eagles.
It's a bit hard to find ... but trust your "Geo-Senses" and as usual, please be careful/respectful etc. BYOP and watch for muggles.
