Geocache Description:

We love the terrain of Charleston, WV, especially the area in which we live—known as Fort Hill. The day after we learned we would be moving here, we were driving around in the area with my daughter and her family. As we drove up the street that leads to this cache site, she said, “I have never seen anything like this.”

The cache is on the edge of the remains of Fort Scammon which is on the National Register of Historic Places. The site played a brief but significant role in the Civil War. Come in the daytime so you can enjoy the view on the drive and from the top. And don’t fail to read the sign as you start up the hill.

There aren’t that many obvious places to hide, so no hint is needed. Small lock-and-lock, only room for small TB’s. Travelers on the interstate, this is NOT a quick grab, but hopefully worth the time and effort: take 119 S., right on Cantley, right on Wilkie, right on Sheridan Cir, you’ll find your way from there.
