Geocache Description:

An addition to our Odysseus caches. Our first cache was placed in Kefalonia, close to the island of Ithaca and home to King Odysseus. GC1WEN6 A metal gate/stile might make it difficult to access for strollers or less able. Flat terrain. Small camo container with log.

Penelope was the wife of our eponymous hero.Odysseus had been away from home so long that various men had come to court her affections. Penelope would have none of them. She told them she would only marry one of them when she'd finish her weaving. However, she unravelled it every night so never finished it! The men were angry.

As this is a Greek tale, the gods get involved and a warning is sent to the men predicting their doom. This is in the shape of two eagles swooping down upon them, talons ready.

Penelope doesn't recognise her husband when he eventually returns to Ithaca. You can read the story of The Odyssey online. There are many versions available.
