Geocache Description:

THE BIRTH OF THE IRISH REPUBLIC.

THE EASTER RISING also known as THE EASTER REBELLION was an armed insurrection staged in IRELAND during easter week 1916 (24th-29th april) .   The rising was mounted by IRISH REPUBLICANS with the aim of ending BRITISH RULE IN IRELAND .

Organised by 7 members of the military council of the IRISH REPUBLICAN BROTHERHOOD and was to last for 6 days .

Due to space and this being a page i will just give an overview of the rising and all highlighted names and places are worth a read on line by themselves . There is way too much before ,during and after the RISING to fit one page .This cache will take you to places taken by the insurgents around city centre also the jail and their last resting place . its a long cache but there are plenty of caches on route to keep one busy.
