BABUSHKA_QC’S DESCRIPTION OF KEIKO

Keiko is a little female terrier mix born in December 2013. She was found wandering the streets of Gatineau, paws bloodied, in -20 C this winter. According to the veterinarian, she would have spent about ten days outside. Happily, she's suffered no lasting after-effects!

Keiko is hyper-social, she runs happily to anyone new while ensuring out of the corner of her eye that we are not too far away. She found her first cache on April 5, 2014 in Brockville and she loved the adventure. She's a little dog who adores water to the point where she joins me in the shower of her own free will. You want to make her happy? Throw her a stick!!!

APPEARANCE

Terriers range greatly in appearance from very small, light bodied, smooth coated dogs such as the English Toy Terrier (Black and Tan), which weighs as little as 2.7 kg (6 lbs), to the very large rough coated Airedale Terriers, which can be up to 32 kg (70 lbs) or more.

TEMPERAMENT

As with many other dog breeds, terrier dogs have diverse characteristics that set one type from another. Owners find them faithful and always ready to protect the home to which they have become accustomed. Distinguished excellent guardians, many dogs from this breed can easily determine well-intentioned strangers from those who mean harm.

One of the major features terrier dogs have is their capability to respond well to training. In fact, some types are endowed with natural intelligence which makes them fit for obedience training and ring shows. Some terriers with this disposition need lots of activities that would challenge them mentally.

Some of this type also have the determination and dignified disposition that give them the air of confidence.

Some terrier dogs are fun loving and humorous in some sense. They are lively and gay and have become the favorites for many centuries.

Many types of this breed still retain the true terrier disposition. That is, hunting. Yet, significant with such dogs is their keenness to human companionship which makes them affectionate pets.
