For starters, I have the best family in the whole world. What makes my family so great? The bonds we've formed from nearly four decades of Sunday's at grandma's house. For almost 40 years, that's 2,080 Sundays, we've shared the blessings and the struggles of life. We've fought, laughed, played, feasted and cried and laughed some more. It's not often, in this modern world, that you'll see such a close extended family. It's second nature to my children and I, the cousins, second cousins, aunts and uncles. It's our home base, the place we go to become grounded and grow stronger.
There's always a look of surprise and astonishment on the faces of new friends and coworkers, once they hear about our very old-fashioned family tradition. It's a habit rooted from my grandmother's close-knit family roots, found in the hills of Tennessee, back in the days of sepia toned photography and one room school houses.
This is my first geocache hide and is in honor of my 86 year old grandmother, who's birthday is this Wednesday. She is amazing. The gifts she's poured out on to our family have multiplied out in so many spectacular ways.
As I placed this cache, I enjoyed the sound of a father teaching his son how to hit a softball… which my favorite sport growing up. It's a beautiful day for it. Have a seat and reminisce about playing when you were a kid.
