De Brug van Willebroek, De brug der zuchten, de Vredesbrug zijn maar enkele van de benamingen die deze brug heeft meegekregen. Wat bijna zeker is, is dat je hier met de wagen ongetwijfeld al hebt moeten wachten op boten die passeren.
De brug is van het portaaltype in stalen vakwerkbouw, in de jaren 1947-1952 opgericht door de "Société Anonyme des Ateliers de Construction de Willebroeck". Deze maatschappij bouwde ook de Dom Luis I-brug over de Douro in Portugal. Verderop langs het Zeekanaal werden in dezelfde periode gelijkaardige bruggen opgericht, de intussen reeds vervangen Jan Bogaertsbrug in Kapelle-op-den-Bos en de nog steeds bestaande Budabrug in Neder-Over-Heembeek.
De cache kan je terugvinden aan de brug zelf, je hoeft hiervoor de brug zelf niet te betreden. Je GPS kan mogelijk de exacte locatie moeilijk weergeven omwlle van de grote hoeveelheid staal die het signaal kan storen.
The 'Brug van Willebroek', the 'Bridge of sighs' or the 'Bridge of peace' are just a few names this bridge is to be called. Wat can be almost be taken for sure is that, when you were traveling by by car, you had to wait for trespassing boats.
The bridge, portal type in steel contstruction, was built in the years 1947 - 1952 by the "Société Anonyme des Ateliers de Construction de Willebroeck". This company also built the Dom Luis bridge over the river Douro in Portugal. Further on the canal, in the same era, other bridges of the same type were built. The Jan Bogaerts bridge (already replaced) en the still existing Buda bridge in Neder-over-Heembeek.
The cache is to be found at the bridge itself, you don't need to access the bridge. Your GPS device possibly has difficulties to show you the exact location, due to the enormous amount of steel.
