Geocache Description:

This is a rebirth of a previous cache (GC3M7PC).

Having lived nearby for the past 21 years I know this area very well and when I started geocaching, the previous cache here was one of my first finds. I feel that others should experience that same smile as i do, when I sit on this bench taking a breather and admiring THAT 'view'!

I have permission from the Hilsea Lines Countryside Officer to place this cache.

You'll find yourself walking along the Demi West Bastion of the Hilsea Lines (a Scheduled Ancient Monument) and you'll also see the Portsmouth Grammar School playing fields through the trees as you reach the very top path of the lines. You can also see the M275 Sails, Portsdown Hill and Hilsea Lido.

Once you reach the correct area you'll be standing on top off the Lines with a black metal bench nearby which has a 'special' view!

The view of the 'lone' bench is obstructed by a hedge! Sit down relax and take in the surroundings!

You'll need a pen to sign the log and also please can you put the cache back where you found it.
It's not a busy area but keep an eye open for any muggles walking nearby.

The location is on the top footpath of Hilsea Lines Demi West Bastion which can be accessed from a couple of different directions. One is a series of medium rock steps from the south, from inside the moat overlooking Tipner Lake. Another is via two flights of rock steps on the inside of the moat right on the corner below GZ. The other is up some steps or a short, but fairly steep incline starting behind the bus shed next to the blue pedestrian bridge/Petrol station. Please do not attempt to climb up or down any of the banks.

You may also like to find other caches in the close proximity of Hilsea Lido and further along the Lines, or maybe walk down to the Mountbatten Centre alongside Tipner Lake (beautiful when the tide is in) taking in the Dirty Dozen series.

On a side note, for those who are also interested in TRIG POINTS, there is a trig point almost completely hidden on the upper footpath, on the wrong side of the fence in heavy undergrowth, which although partially hidden can be easily spotted if looked for.
