Lest we Forget- Rhu Traditional Cache

A drive by series of caches set at war memorials to commemorate 100 years since the beginning of the Great War.(this is a small container suitable for small swaps and TB's/coins. Please bring your own pen/pencil)

The Rhu war memorial is a grey granit celtic cross which stands in front of the kirk.

Main dedication inscription on the main block, below the Cross 

TO THE GLORY OF GOD 
AND IN MEMORY OF THE MEN 
FROM THIS PARISH, 
WHO MADE THE SUPREME SACRIFICE 
IN THE GREAT WAR, 
1914 – 19 

AND OF THOSE WHO FELL IN THE WAR 
1939 – 1945 
 

 Subsidiary inscription on the plinth below the main dedication 

“GREATER LOVE HATH NO MAN THAN THIS, THAT 
A MAN LAY DOWN HIS LIFE FOR HIS FRIENDS” 
 

This series has been placed around the local area at the war memorials used to remember those who died serving their country during world war 1 and world war 2. Although this series is designed as drive by’s it would be fitting to take a minute and pay respects to those who died in these conflicts.
