Geocache Description:

Starting a theme of caches I hope others w/ local knowledge of edibles will also hide FORAGING: Fruit:Blackberries, Paw paws [easy]... Weed: Dandelions, Spring Beauties [edible]... Medicine: Ginseng, Willow Bark {will need for zombie apocalypse}... Anything: honey, wild onion, whitetail, catfish, crab, etc. Give info on edible, warnings, place cache in area your edible is and recipe.

Mushrooms are not a good survival food (little nutritional value). IF YOU CANNOT 100% ID YOUR MUSHROOM, DO NOT EAT and/or HAVE A PROFESSIONAL ID IT! Beware of false Morels Poisonious (real Morels stem is hollow/false morels stem is not hollow)... Caution there are DEATH CAPS (Amanita) around area they are up to 90% mortality rate, and if you live your liver/kidneys are shot, any Amanita shroom should not be consumed because of misidentifcation! The safest/easy way to find Morels is at Ellywood Thompson Market. The book Mushrooms Demystified and/or Steve Haas @ Haashooms/ Tuckhoe plantation are great tools. Other than above have fun & enjoy!

FORAGING: "Nature's treasure hunt"... Morels grow in and around Tulip Poplar trees in our area, there are small yellow to white in color. Apple orchards are another good hunting area. There season is from around mid April to late May. Once you see one stop look around there is probably many others in area.

In a frying pan add butter and shallots on mid heat (Morels should be put in water in frig overnight), dry and slice morel down middle (should be hollow) place in pan for 2-3 mins each side, wisk 2 eggs cook in pan each side 2-3 mins, season to taste w/ cheese, tabasco, etc. FTF and photo a Morel in area gets a Mellow Mushroom t-shirt!
