Exshaw Mountain from the parking lot:
Exshaw Mountain, located just north of the hamlet of Exshaw, is a simple hike that is likely accessible year round. There is no clearly defined trail, but the easiest route to the summit follows a gentle ridge. Park at the given parking coordinates and start your ascent at the recommended trailhead.
Sir Sanford Fleming named Exshaw after his son-in-law, E. William Exshaw (Sailing Olympic Gold Medalist at the Paris 1900 Summer Olympics), who with Fleming helped establish the Western Canada Cement and Coal Company. Today, a large cement plant, owned by Lafarge, provides many jobs for the inhabitants of this hamlet.
