Geocache Description:

Small camoed plastic container near the ground and near the main Ascalon Trailhead.  Plenty of nearby free parking.

The Ascalon Trailhead, in the Ascalon community on Lookout Mountain, has a large parking area for several trails that connect to the Cloudland Canyon Connector Trail, the Caprock Trail, Five Points and many others.  The main trails here are open to mountain bikes and horses as well as hikers.  Some of the ancillary trails are for hiking only.   All trails close at sunset, and the automatic gates will close based on daylight, so plan accordingly!  This is a daylight-only find.

This property is part of the Cloudland Canyon State Park, so there is a $5 daily entrance fee, unless you are a member of the Friends of Georgia State Parks! smiley   There is a collection box next to the trailhead kiosk where day-passes can be obtained.

This cache is within 200' of the trailhead kiosk, within 20' of the trail and placed with permission of the park manager at a location selected and approved by the park naturalist.

Please do not move or vandalize the container. Replace the cache like or better than you found it (exactly where you found it).
Sign the log book and leave it in the cache. If you want to take any of other items in the cache, they are there for trade; be sure to leave something of equal or greater value, but don't leave any kind of food items, or anything that is highly aromatic, which could attract critters/creatures/rodents/bugs!

This container is large enough for pathtags and geocoins and small trackable items.  All trackables will have a unique six-character code of letters and/or numbers stamped on them.  If you take a trackable, please remember to log it on www.geocaching.com.  The purpose of trackables are generally to move from cache to cache; some may have specific "missions", which you may find on the trackable's page when you log it.  For more information on trackables, including how to correctly log them, please visit www.geocaching.com/track.

Enjoy your visit at the park and remember to re-hide the cache like or better than you found it and practice, "Leave No Trace."  While visiting any Georgia State Park, please obey all park rules and remain on the marked trails as you make your way to find the geocaches!
