STORE HEDDINGE STATION

Stevns hovedbanegård.

En af Stevns mest historiske bygninger... tegnet i 1878 af ikke mindre end Heinrich E.C. Wenck (1851-1936), der som sin første opgave som arkitekt fik at tegne jernbanebygninger til det private Østsjællandske Jernbaneselskab.
Samme Wenck har få år senere været arkitekten for Gribskovbanen, Lyngby og Helsingør Stationer og stationsbygninger på kystbanestrækningen. Efter disse opgaver blev Wenck leder af Statsbanernes Tegnestue og står dermed som hovedarkitekt for de fleste af landets togstationer, herunder Københavns Hovedbanegård.

I de sidste mange år har den flotte stations bygning desværre været i totalt forfald og var ikke langt fra at blive revet ned i 2013 - heldigvis blev den dog opkøbt i sidste øjeblik af folk som ønskede at bevare den & bygningen er nu ved at blive renoveret & vil forhåbenligt snart stolt igen kunne byde folk velkommen til Store Heddinge når de ankommer med toget til byen.

Stevns Central Station.

One of Stevns most historic buildings ... designed in 1878 by no less than Heinrich EC Wenck (1851-1936), as his first job as an architect was drawing railway buildings to the private East Sealand Railway Company.
Same Wenck has a few years later been the architect of Gribskovbanen, Lyngby and Helsingør stations and station facilities on the coastal railway line.
After these tasks were Wenck head of the State Railways Architects and therefore the main architect of most of the country's train stations, including Copenhagen Central Station.

In the past several years, the beautiful station building has unfortunately been in total decay and was not far from being demolished in 2013 - fortunately it was however bought at the last minute by people who wanted to preserve it and the building is now being renovated & will hopefully soon again proud welcome people when they arrive by train to the city.
