Geocache Description:

This is a letterbox hybrid geocache. If you are not into letterboxing, you can treat this just like any other geocache. There is a logbook to sign, and trinkets to trade. But for you letterboxers, there is a second book for stamping, a stamp to make an impression in your personal stamp book, and an ink pad. Of course everyone should know that the letterboxing paraphernalia is not for trading, and should remain in the cache.

Like many Arizona geocachers, we've had several of our caches involuntarily archived this week for the sin of being placed on State Trust land.  When geocaching got started, the State Land Department had no problem with the activity as long as geocachers got their state land recreation permit.  We cachers did that in droves and undoubtedly caused a great uptick in revenues to the State Land Department.  But something has changed now, and they no longer welcome us, or our dollars I guess.

Our nearby cache, The Promise has been archived for being on State Trust land.  Our Promise to the geocaching community that the cache would remain in place for the enjoyment of finders could not be kept.  It was located in a very cool area of rocks and cliffs that is used by rock climbers.  It seems that the anchors that the climbers drill and bolt into the rock is OK, but a small plastic container placed in a nook in the rocks is not.  Go figure.

So this cache is placed in the vicinity, but on National Forest Land, to take the place of the cache that could not stay.  However, there are No Promises that this cache will be allowed to stay indefinitely, at the whim of the relevant land managers.  So you had better get up here while the getting is good to put your name in the geocachers' logbook, and if you are a letterboxer, to make your stamp impression in the stamp book.
