Ground zero provides more nice views of the area, including the old Niobrara State park and the town of Niobrara.
1910 marked the grand opening of the Niobrara Island Park. The land on which the park was built was given to the village for a park in 1881 by the U.S. Department of the Interior. The village operated the park until approximately 1930 when it was given to the State of Nebraska and was added to the Nebraska Park System. Niobrara state Park was established in 1930, and was moved to its present location in 1987 due to rising water levels from Lewis and Clark lake.
A State Park permit will be needed for your vehicle if you choose to search for the cache! At this time the yearly permit is $25 but the daily is only $5.
