Geocache Description:

Caches have been placed with permission from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. They have asked that we stay on the east side of the stream.

Kanopolis Lake activities;  Boating

Boat ramps are available for usage at the Venango and both Horsethief and Lanley Point State Parks.  Boat ramps in the State park areas are equipped with courtesy loading docks.

Kanopolis Lake was constructed and is operated by the U.S. Army corps of Engineers.  Located on the Smoky Hill River, it is one of the oldest lakes in Kansas.  Construction of the project began in 1940 and was completed in 1948.  Four parks have been developed for public recreation. Two are managed by the Corps of Engineers and two state parks are managed by Kansas Wildlife and Parks.
