Geocache Description:

This is one of several caches to complement the original Cateran Trail Geocaches and replaces a previous Geocache that is now archived.

The cache has been set for MissJenn who happens to work at Geocaching HQ, and Spoon! on the Kirkmichael: Meet & Greet the Seattle-ites Event. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
The Cateran Trail is a circular route covering 64 miles (103 km) of old drove roads and tracks through forests, over moors and across farmland. It takes its name from the lawless cattle thieves who raided Strathardle, Glenshee and Glen Isla, spiriting cattle away by dead of night or into ancient misty mornings.

The Trail can be tackled in five easy stages. (Or walked in 4/5 days.) It is fully waymarked with Cateran Trail signs – plus a few unique hand-carved posts that are discoverable. It is advisable to carry a map and cache safely i.e equipped for all weather conditions.

Cateran Trail at the Spittal of Glenshee
The cache is located on the Cateran Trail on a gentle uphill walk from the Spittal of Glenshee heading for Enochdhu.

Glenshee takes its name from the Gaelic word shith, meaning ‘fairies’. Until the old Gaelic language died out in the late 1800’s the inhabitants were known as Sithichean a’ Ghlinnshith - ‘The Elves of Glenshee’

The main settlement in Glenshee area is the Spittal of Glenshee, now by-passed by the main A93 road. A historic Chapel of Ease here, was first run by the monks from Coupar Angus Abbey to provide shelter and hospitality for travellers, hence the name "Spittal". __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
The Lock & Lock cache box has swaps for you to trade with one of your own of equal value. You are welcome to leave or move on TBs and Geocoins but please note these are not swap items. Please ensure you re-hide the cache really well ready for the next person to enjoy the hunt. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Congratulations to MissJenn for being FTF this Geocache.
