On the south side of Old Country Road in Plainview, you will find an M2 105mm Howitzer artillery gun. The Howitzer was used by the U.S. Army during World War II. It was issued to airborne units and the cannon companies of infantry regiments. Next to that is an M2A3 75 mm Carriage Gun built in 1941. These carriage guns were used by the U.S Army Infantry during World War II. Shortly after the fall of France, the Army realized a greater need for anti-tank artillery.
I could go on and on with the history of WWII and the importance that these guns played in us winning the war, but you are probably more interested in the cache itself. Directions to cache: Look for the pair of guns on the south side of Old Country Road, a bit east of Manetto Hill Rd intersection. Drive to the parking area, in the far back, behind the guns. Note: Do NOT try to reach this cache from the small path leading from Fresno Drive or Miriam Lane to the South! Please enter from the VFW's Old Country Road entrance and go as far south as you can to park, then walk west to search.
