Eagle Creek is home to one of the last remaining self-producing brown trout populations in the metropolitan area. It also features Boiling Springs, an environmental phenomenon in which pools of water bubble up. The site is considered sacred by the Mdewakanton Sioux, with legend saying the springs produced a guiding spirit for the tribe.
This traditional cache is located on private property near Eagle Creek (it is not in the Eagle Creek AMA). Quiet time at the campground is from 10:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. - please be considerate and observe those hours. It is accessible by hiking from 125th Street on the east side of the DNR fence (outside the Eagle Creek AMA DNR land) and is located near (but not in) the Eagle Creek AMA and a private campground. Please note that you should not park within the campground.
The container is a small camo container and is located on the north side of Eagle Creek. There is no established path and there are some briars so be careful. There is a trackable FTF geocoin for the First to Find to keep. There is also a TB that has made its way from another cache. Feel free to trade for the Eagle stones and wooden nickles. Enjoy!
