Join us and the SouthWest Arlington Geocachers by visiting the places we like to read. Read a book, read an e-book, read the newspaper, read a magazine, find a cache!
We have placed eleven special library caches for you to find. This one will take you to Lake Arlington. In 1954, Arlington boasted 40,000 residents and a shortage of water due to droughts in previous years. A bond measure passed to construct a lake to solve this problem. Many Arlingtonians deemed the project a bad idea and dubbed it "Vandergriff's Folly." In 1957, the construction was finished, the valves on the dam were closed, the rains came, and the 15 billion gallon lake was filled in 27 days! "Vandergriff's Folly" was renamed "Miracle Lake."
The Summer Reading Club has ended, but the cache is still there for you to find!
