A cache and dash on the old road between Largs and Greenock.
Easy cache'n'dash on a beautiful wee road between Largs and Greenock.
Lots of cyclists use it, especially at weekends, and it's a popular drive in the country. Single track with passing places and plenty of places to pull off without being in the way. it is also a great place to start walks into the hills.
It is is not a good road in any snow!!
When I was a kid this was a white gate so we called it the second white gate. This was where you came for a bit of camping. Down by the burn you could pitch up, have a camp fire and cook off sausages. You could have been in the middle of nowhere just like a cowboy but the road was just behind you if the weather changed or you got a bit homesick!! A brilliant spot to stop for the night and fall asleep listening to the burn running past you.
Plenty of space to pull in. In fact you don't need a GPS!
