It looks similar to a big chimney, but it's not. It is the surge chamber for the Rangipo Underground Power Station.

Area reached via Kaimanawa Road, turn off SH 1 16 km's Sth of Turangi. The gravel road to the surge chamber and the start of the Urchin is steep, when I placed the cache a normal passenger car would be ok, but heavy rain could change that. Vehicles could be left at the Urchin Campsite and then walk approx 1.4km's to the top. Cache is a sistema 200ml container, with log and pencil it is covered with two rocks.
