Geocache Description:

Along what was once the old rail bed and is now the walking path and just above Hippo Beach is where this cache lies. Cache logbook is desperate from cache SWAG container but the are together.

This walking trail used to be the old railway bed back in the early to mid 1900s. Once the new highway was build connecting Regina Beach to the #11 Hwy the train was no longer in high demand, and the CPR discontinued its passenger train service. The rail was dismantled and this recreational trail took its place. This trail runs from Little Arm to Lumsden Beach now, and in really dry seasons you can walk across the old trail bed to Craven. The length along the South Shore is around 10km one way. If you look just down the hill you can see some old rail ties. Just below this hill sits Hippo Beach, named after the Hippo Beach in the San Diego Zoo. It was "founded" in 1995 by the same "Hippos" you can see lounging on the beach during the summer months. Their slogan " We're more graceful in the water"
