Description. Well, this cache is just a little ways out of the
way for most people but the trip is well worth it. But be warned,
from any and all directions, LOW SLUNG CARS ARE NOT RECOMMENDED !!
All these roads are rough washboard rock and or cinder or
unmaintained roads. Please pack plenty of food, water and overnight
gear if you choose to try this one.
Bring a lunch and enjoy “ The Crack in the Ground “
which is the main reason we put this cache here. The Crack is
around two mile long and around 70 feet deep in spots. There is
usually ice year around and always cold. You will have to park at :
N 43:19.979 W 120:40.565 and hike in about a quarter mile to the
Crack. The main entrance to the Crack is at N 43:19.954 W
120.40.271. If you come in from Christmas Valley or points East,
the Best road in is just east of town. If you come in from the
North, all bets are off and take your chances. From the west, work
you way in from Fort Rock and Green Mtn. Roads.
The cache is in a well hidden ammo can under a Juniper tree,
hence the name of the cache. Which one? We hid the cache a ways
from the Crack itself due to the people whom walk all over the
place and we did not want them to find it accidentally.
