Kinneil Estate is open woodland and parkland to the West of the fine historic town of Bo'ness. The woods are open 24/7 365 days a year. I mention this as the entrance onto the avenue towards Kinneil House is so grand that many people think they don't belong!
The Estate includes Kinneil Museum - open Monday to Saturday 12:30pm to 4pm so please try and visit in this timeframe to get the most our of your visit. A 4 star visitor attraction in its own right.
Additonally, you can see Kinneil House. Which isn't open sadly apart from 8 open days. See website for details. The house includes the finest Renaissance Wall Paintings in Scotland and possibly the UK.
If you park at the Museum you'll see these places plus walk past a 12th Century Church (ruin) plus the remains of the Roman Fortlet, part of the Antonine Wall World Heritage Site. If that isn't enough, behind the House you can see James Watt's Cottage. Actually his workshop where he developed the efficient Steam Engine. Making this site arguably the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution.
The "Curling" Pond is the second of the two ponds. And has many fine birds. I'll list them shortly - when I find out what they are ;-)
Placed with kind permission by Falkirk Community Trust. Kinneil Estate is parkland and woodland open 365 days. 24 hours.
