The original cache container was developed by my caching friend, noted in the title of this cache. He has been a great help to me in the past with home improvements and is simply a great caching buddy. He used to hunt down golf balls, and has a real geosense that compliments my blundering intuition as to where caches are hidden.
Unfortunately, that well-crafted cache container got muggled within 2 months of placement. It was a brick with a compartment specifically designed for a log sheet. That cache should be easy to locate along a paved level shoreline trail that someday may be extended east to downtown Anacortes. The replacement cache is located practically where the original one was. It's only logical to approach this cache from the west along the trail that also passes by a couple of my other caches. To reach the parking area, turn north off of Oakes St (Hwy 20) and drive through the new San Juan Passages subdivision, turning left where you can no longer go straight ahead. Follow this road down to near the shoreline.
For those waiting in line for the ferry, with enough time to spare, there are at least six (6) caches that can be found mostly along the trail that extends east from the ferry staging area. There is a short stretch of sandy shoreline that must be walked before reaching the trail.
BYOP, and please place cache back exactly as found.
