A short stroll of around a mile on the footpaths of Writtle, the first part of the path up to the allotments is very accessible, after that it turns into a small defined path, which can get muddy in winter, all the caches are placed along or just off the path. This series was placed to coincide with the Essex Mega Venue announcement meet.
Longmeads House is a large Victorian building with grounds, and an important feature of the village. It was built by Robert Woodhouse in the 1880s and remained in the family until it was acquired by the Seabrooke family in 1930. The estate was acquired by Essex County Council in 1950 and is now the village's community centre.
