My K9 Caching partners and I congratulate Bruins9 for sticking with this hobby for the LONG HAUL......long enough to reach ONE THOUSAND caches found!
The pack and I have met Bruins9 on the trail a few times.....and we attended events together and when I saw that he was approaching that first major caching milestone, it was a natural to recognize his accomplishment by placing his GOLDEN AMMO CAN! Cachers place them to mark another cacher's first ONE THOUSAND caches found, and what I term as a time when a cacher has stayed with this game long enough to prove that they are serious.....AND seriously have been firmly bitten by the caching bug.
And Bruins9 was bitten.....HARD! It took him roughly ONE WHOLE YEAR to go from his first find, Wyalusing Creek Cache, all the way to the ONE THOUSAND caches found mark! Personally, I can tell you that it was almost THREE YEARS before we got to that point. Most of us ramp up (I generally do over two thousand a year now), but this guy hit the ground running!
This is a compact two stage multi cache hidden on the edge of Pennsylvania SGL219. It does require some bushwhacking, but nothing a serious cacher should find even mildly challenging. Part one is a cammoed matchstick holder with the last three digits of each coordinate for the final and shows you a remnant of when this area was a thriving community. Part two is a classic ammo box hide and has a scenic view and a place for your geodog to cool off......you DO have a K9 caching partner don't you?
REMEMBER: This is the State Game Lands. Hunting is allowed and cachers should wear orange in season.....ESPECIALLY the fall deer season (in fact, the game wardens will ticket you for being here without wearing orange at that time). Treat your surroundings with respect and leave nothing but your foot prints behind.
