Geocache Description:

Placed and run by 7th Hertford Guides. Part of a small group of children's-tales linked caches in Balls Wood

By a lone White Poplar at a junction, is a lone white bench. If you sit on the bench you may hear the Dormouse tell this tale, (curtesy of Alice Through the Looking Glass).

'Once upon a time there were three little sisters,' the Dormouse begain in a great hurry; 'and their names were Elsie, Lacie, and Tillie; and they lived at the bottom of a well -'

'What did they live on?' said Alice.

''They lived on treacle,' said the Dormouse.

'They couldn't have done that, you know,' Alice gently remarked; 'they'd have been ill.'

'So they were,' said the Dormouse; 'very ill.'

If you feel stumped by this nonsense, try looking for a stump nearby.
