Well done Team Bentley and Shutter-bugs for FTF

Welcome to Hall i' th' Wood, an early 16th-century manor house in Bolton. It is a Grade I listed building and is currently used as a museum if you’re in the area you should have a look round its open Tuesday 10am to 3pm and Saturday 12pm to 4pm (don't worry the cache is not in the house or closed gardens so is always accessible)

Starting out life as a rich merchant’s home the Hall has had many tenants including cattle.

Samuel Crompton's family lodged here during the 18th century and this is where he designed and invented the first spinning mule that spun previously unheard of quantities of fine cotton thread. After a brief time housing livestock the Hall was bought by Lord Leverhulme in 1899 for the people of Bolton. It was restored by Jonathan Simpson and Edward Ould and opened as a museum in 1902.
