This is the 2nd in the spice series. Sage is actually a savory, and slighty peppery herb. It is native to the mediterranian area, but can thrive just about anywhere, inclucing in my back yard herb garden. It is great with poultry, and you may have used it in your Thanksgiving stuffing. Another more common use for sage is in sausage, particularly in a country sausage. I love to add sage to the gravy when I make sausage gravy and biscuits. Anyone that has eaten my sausage gravy, loves it. I think it's the sage I add. If you're lucky, you may catch a whiff of some country sausage from a nearby sausage plant/wharehouse.It has medicinal uses too. When crushed sage leaves are placed in boiling water and inhaled, it acts as a decongestant. Studies have shown that it may be helpful in mild Alzheimer's disease also. plenty of room to park on the side of this not so busy side road
